Lauren Burns created sporting history by winning the first-ever Olympic medal for Taekwondo when the sport made its debut at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Lauren was one of only three Australian women to win an individual Olympic Gold Medal at the 2000 games, along with Cathy Freeman and Susie O’Neill. Her amazing performance was achieved against the odds and with an enormous amount of hard work, perseverance and teamwork. Since the Sydney Olympics, Lauren has become a highly-sought-after speaker, naturopath and nutritionist. She has a passion for writing and penned her best-selling autobiography Fighting Spirit and cookbook 'From a Loving Home'. Lauren is currently completing her PhD at RMIT University exploring the link between lifestyle, mindset and high performance and is the mother of two beautiful children.

Rebecca is a qualified Naturopath, with over 15 years of clinical experience. Bec’s approach to her patients is very caring, friendly, sincere and professional. Her experience working in pharmacies for 10 years and her tutoring with the School of Medicine at Deakin sees her treatment and management as a good balance of medical diagnostics and testing, coupled with traditional naturopathic treatment. Rebecca specialises in womens’ and childrens’ health. As a mum of 2 young boys herself, she loves helping young ones and families and is very mindful of her recommendations, keeping her suggestions and treatments realistic and doable! Rebecca is also a GAPS (Gut and Psychology Syndrome) practitioner and studied with the Mind Foundation of Australia focusing on immunology, neurology, gut and paediatric integrative medicine.

Madeline is a PhD student within the Food & Mood Centre at Deakin University, Australia. She has a Bachelor of Human Nutrition as well as a Bachelor of Food and Nutrition Sciences (Honours). Madeline’s research focuses on the gut microbiota in people living with eating disorders. She is also passionate about empowering women to foster a healthy relationship with food through the practice of Intuitive Eating. In her spare time Madeline loves cooking, reading, and walking her beautiful dog, Lucy.

Kim encourages and supports women to see their true potential by building their self-esteem and confidence, inner strength, and being happy with their achievements. Kim is a successful business woman who has a strong background in women's leadership, management, yoga, personal training, scuba diving and has developed and facilitated a Women's Sport Program for Surfing Victoria that encouraged women to engage in outdoor activities such as Surfing and SUP all over Victoria. Kim has been a state surfing champion and has completed at national surfing titles representing Victoria.

Jessica is a PhD candidate within the Food and Mood Centre in the School of Medicine at Deakin University, Australia. She holds both a Bachelor in Food and Nutrition (Exercise Science) and a Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours), and her research interests include mental health, nutrition, physical strength and gut health in older populations. Jessica has a background in exercise science and nutrition, and is passionate about assisting people with the physical contributors to their mental health. Her PhD focuses on the longitudinal determinants of muscle mass and the microbiome, and hopes that results from this research will contribute to improving the quality of life in older populations.

Meghan is an Accredited Practising Dietitian, Nutritionist and PhD Candidate with the Food & Mood Centre. She is an advocate for a whole-food and evidence-based approach to nutrition and is passionate about bridging the gap between the mind and body. She has a specialist interest in food for mood, brain and gut health, and as part of her PhD, is currently exploring the role of dairy consumption in mood and cognition. Meghan is passionate about all things health and wellness, with her ideal day centred around Pilates, a soy latte and a lazy-afternoon spent cooking in the kitchen.

Amanda has a Bachelor of Commerce from Deakin and is a qualified CPA. She joined The Canny Group in 1980 as a bookkeeper and became a Director in 2011. Amanda has a keen interest in helping women in business. Whether in their role as director, owner or bookkeeper Amanda will be able to help women grow and manage their businesses. At the beginning of 2019 Amanda was asked to be on the Board of Encompass as the Chief Financial Operator. When she’s away from the office, Mandy loves spending time in the garden at home. Mandy is often socialising with family and friends and playing Ninny to her young grandchildren.
Samantha joined The Canny Group team in April 2019, having been in the finance industry for 18 years and advising for the last 13. Sam has a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Financial Planning as well as a Diploma of Financial Services. Sam is also a qualified primary school teacher and taught around Australia as well as overseas for six years before changing careers. Sam loves meeting clients, listening to their stories and helping achieve their goals. Sam admits that she loves the human element of her job more than anything. Outside of the office you will find Sam raising three, healthy daughters. Sam also enjoys exercising regularly, reading a book or just relaxing by listening to some music.

Gail’s focus on Sound Literacy and Meditation is used as a mechanism for releasing tension while creating space for relaxation and inner peace. We all have the ability to release stress in our lives, but many of us lack the tools and knowledge to make a difference. Gail uses singing bowls, gongs, tuning forks, chimes and other sound instruments to surround her clients with targeted sounds. She uses the concept of literacies to build an appreciation of the importance of such sounds. Gail also uses Reiki as a tool for focused thought and mindfulness; she has arrived at these natural therapies through her own health experiences. Gail is a retired teacher, academic and action researcher and she enjoys working with individuals, groups and the corporate sector to research their own practice while building balance and harmony.
